Church History
A Place to Belong
Burning Bush Baptist Church was born out of the God-given vision of Bishop David Denson Jr. The organizational meeting of the church was held on October 25, 1995, in the home of charter members, Elder Eddie and Willie Mae Barnes. During that meeting, Rev. David Denson Jr. was officially affirmed as the Pastor and Founder of Burning Bush Baptist Church.
The first worship service was held on Sunday, October 29, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. in the High Desert Taekwondo Center, owned by one of the church members. A total of 250 people attended this inaugural service, marking the beginning of a ministry that God would continue to bless and expand.
Rapid growth soon made it necessary for the congregation to relocate. In December 1995, Burning Bush Baptist Church moved to its new location at 15526 Seventh Street. As attendance continued to increase and two Sunday worship services became necessary, the church acquired an adjoining building to accommodate the growing congregation.
To assist Pastor Denson in carrying out the vision God had given him, an Executive Board of Directors was established. On May 30, 1996, Burning Bush Baptist Church was officially incorporated with the State of California as a nonprofit religious organization.
In January 1998, extensive renovations began on the new facility. Through the sacrificial service of faithful church members, the sanctuary was completed and dedicated for worship in June 1998.
As the ministry continued to grow, the church acquired five acres of land, including two small homes. In 2002, an additional three acres were purchased, preparing the ministry for future expansion.
As God continued to bless the ministry with sustained growth, Burning Bush Baptist Church acquired the former Sears building in 2002, which became known as the Burning Bush Power Center. During the renovation and construction of the new 32,000-square-foot facility, the congregation temporarily worshiped at West Creek Elementary School.
After many delays resulting from city requirements and construction approvals, the renovations were finally completed. In March 2008, the congregation joyfully moved into the Burning Bush Power Center, where the ministry continues to worship, serve, and impact the community for the Kingdom of God.
Milestones
Thirty Years of Ministry
Leadership
Elders Council & the A.R.T. of Excellence
Through the years, the ministry has raised up numerous Associate Ministers, Elders, and Deacons who faithfully assist in shepherding and serving the congregation.
To strengthen the spiritual leadership of the church, an Elders Council was established to support Bishop Denson’s vision by providing biblical wisdom, doctrinal guidance, spiritual oversight, and accountability. Team Ministry has become the driving force behind the leadership through the A.R.T. of Excellence — Accountability, Respect, and Training. This philosophy serves as the framework through which every ministry and auxiliary functions together in unity, excellence, and effectiveness.
Leaders That Lead (LTL) is our in-house leadership development ministry, dedicated to equipping, mentoring, and empowering leaders to serve effectively within our church and beyond — committed to advancing the Kingdom of God through biblical truth, spiritual integrity, and servant leadership.

As a Christ-Centered, Word-Focused, and Ministry-Minded church, we place great emphasis on spiritual growth through the faithful teaching, preaching, and study of God’s Word. Our mission is to lead people into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ while equipping believers to become mature disciples who faithfully serve God, one another, and the community.
Our Covering
Miletus Covenant Connection
In 2008 Burning Bush Baptist Church aligned with Miletus Covenant Connection (MCC) under the apostolic covering and leadership of Bishop Roderick Mitchell of Cleveland, Mississippi. Bishop Mitchell serves as Bishop Denson’s spiritual father, providing spiritual covering, accountability, wisdom, encouragement, and ongoing fellowship. Through this covenant relationship, Burning Bush Baptist Church remains connected to a network of Ministry of Leaders That Lead.
From humble beginnings in a member’s home to a thriving ministry that continues to impact lives, Burning Bush Baptist Church remains committed to fulfilling God’s vision with faith, excellence, and unwavering dedication. By God’s grace, we continue to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ — changing people, changing families, changing communities, and changing nations.
