Pastor & Founder
Bishop David Denson Jr.
While on a ministry retreat, Pastor David Denson Jr. was given the vision to start a new church in the High Desert. The name given for the church was Burning Bush Baptist Church, a reference to the burning bush witnessed by Moses in the desert — on fire, but not consumed by the flames.
What began with 250 people in a Taekwondo center in October 1995 has grown into a 32,000-square-foot house of worship with a membership of over one thousand. Bishop Denson serves under the apostolic covering of Bishop Roderick Mitchell and the Miletus Covenant Connection, and he leads the ministry through the A.R.T. of Excellence — Accountability, Respect, and Training.

First Lady
Lady Lorrie Denson
Lady Lorrie was born in Topeka, Kansas and has always enjoyed working with children. That love led her to earn three degrees — an AA in Early Childhood Education, a BS in Elementary Education, and a Master’s in Educational Administration. She has worked as a paraprofessional with special needs students, as a preschool teacher, and has taught grades one through eight. She has also served as a facilitator for Excelsior Education Center, working with high school students.
In 1995, Lorrie met her husband to be, Bishop David Denson Jr., pastor of Burning Bush Church in Victorville, on a trip to California to relocate her mother. They married in December of 1996 and became a blended family of seven. Lady Lorrie works passionately in her church with the Drama Ministry, the TNT Youth Praise Team, and Women of Wisdom. On behalf of the church she also partners with community agencies and advocates for healthcare, formerly serving as an elected official on the Victor Valley Community College Board of Trustees.
Lorrie has contributed to many other boards — among them First District Commissioner with the San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health, Director at Desert Valley Hospital Board, and Director with A Better Way, Victor Valley Domestic Violence Inc. She continues to advocate for community education, mental wellness, spiritual well-being, and social justice. During the height of the pandemic she worked as a Covid Ambassador, and was instrumental in giving Burning Bush and the High Desert access to free Covid testing, PPE equipment, and vaccinations. She served two years as a Community Health Ambassador with IEHP, making sure her church and community had the facts about good health and well-being — and access to them.
